General Items:
- Read tournament rules prior to the tournament
- Oversee the activities of your assigned field – You are the main point of contact for coaches, parents, and referees at your field.
- Check-in teams each game 10-20 minutes prior to games: check game cards, player cards, and team rosters. Check cleats, shin guards, jewelry, etc.
- Obtain game cards from referees and obtain coaches’ signatures after game
- Complete Red Card Report online, if any
- Record scores to the tournament website within 30 minutes of the game
- Verify online that all scores have been posted.
- Answer questions regarding scoring (refer to here) or refer to Venue Coordinator or OC Surf Coach
- Log any incidents or complaints on an Incident Report.
Tournament Check-In:
- Follow the Check-In Duties list here and have the team complete the Team Credentials – Check-In list
- Verify Game Card Roster, Medical Release Forms, Player Cards
- Provide Participation Award
- If any team pays their tournament fees to you by check, please take the check and hold it until you can give it to an OC Surf Club Representative
Fields:
- Set up Venue Coordinator tent, tables, etc.
- Evening shift will need to help put everything away and take everything down. All Club-owned equipment and information should be returned after the completion of the tournament on Sunday night.
- Periodically walk the fields, check the goals, nets, and trash cans.
Pre-Game Check-In:
- Check-in all teams 10-20 minutes prior to game time. We check in teams so the referees don’t have to do it. It is not always mandatory to go through the check-in process for the OC Surf teams if you know them;
- Collect Player Cards from Team Representative
- Check Player Cards against Game Card Roster
- Ensure players are all wearing proper soccer equipment and no jewelry
- Provide Referee withthe Game Card and return the Player Cards to the Team Representative or give them to Referee as requested.
Post Game:
- Ensure the Game Card is completed and signed by the Referee. It doesn’t hurt to check the results (Home/Visitor) etc.
- If a Red Card was issued during the game, all information on the Red Card report must be completed using the player’s Player Card.
- Take the Game Card to each Team Representative and have them sign in the appropriate signature block.
- Return the completed Game Card to the Venue Coordinator tent.
- Work with the Venue Coordinator to ensure all game scores are updated within 30 minutes. Verify online that scores are posted.
Awards:
- Work with Venue Coordinator to determine who will present Champions and Finalist awards after the last game.
- Allow Club Representative or OC Surf Coach to make the presentation to the teams if someone is there. If not, it’s all yours…
- Thank teams for attending, present the Trophy to the coach, and let them hand out medals.
Incident Report / Red Card Report:
- Complete an Incident Report for any adverse events such as injuries, illness, bad conduct, spectator problems, complaints from spectators or referees, etc. Get as much information as you can or feel you need. If police or paramedics are called out, get that information as well.
- Complete the Red Card Report (HERE) for any/all red cards issued during all games. This information must be forwarded, so it is imperative that all required information is accurately obtained.
